Lotus at Dusk

Concept statement

“Lotus at Dusk” explores the symbolism of the Four Lotuses, a concept in Buddhist philosophy that represents different stages of human growth and awakening.

The work brings together traditional Thai artistic language and contemporary expression, creating a visual dialogue that feels both familiar and modern.

The copper-toned background reflects the glow of sunset — a moment when the natural world transitions from brightness to quiet stillness. This transitional light evokes reflection, growth, and the acceptance of change.

Using bas-relief techniques, the artwork presents a primarily two-dimensional composition while introducing subtle three-dimensional depth. As light shifts across the surface, shadows and textures emerge, allowing the piece to feel quietly alive even in stillness.

Within the context of Kinnaree, the work represents harmony between past and present — between heritage and transformation, and between the enduring beauty of tradition and the evolving language of contemporary design.
